Raquel Pasaron, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC
Biographical Sketch


Raquel Pasarón graduated from the University of Florida with a doctor of nursing practice in 2011. She also earned a master of science in nursing/family nurse practitioner track from the University of Miami. Her bachelor of science in nursing is from Barry University.

She is currently a practitioner in a very busy pediatric surgical service at Miami Children’s Hospital. She holds concurrent positions as the Pediatric Surgery Liaison for the service and non-physician faculty for the Pediatric Surgical Fellowship Program. She serves as a clinical preceptor for the nurse practitioner programs of the University of Miami, Florida International University, and South University.

Dr. Pasarón holds board certifications from the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a family nurse practitioner and in pain management and nursing staff development. She is a member of many nursing organizations and honor societies, including Sigma Theta Tau. She is currently serving a second term as a board member of the American Pediatric Surgical Nurses Association.

She has done research, authored book chapters, presented locally, regionally, and at the national level, and written in the area of pediatric surgery specialty, nurse practitioner job satisfaction, and nitrous oxide administration. Accreditation experience includes service as a site visitor for NLNAC.

Dr. Pasarón is the 2011 Florida Nurses’ Association Advanced Nursing Practice Award recipient, the 2011 March of Dimes Nurse of the Year Award recipient in Advanced Practice for Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, and the recent Miami Children’s Hospital Magnet Nurse of the Year for New Knowledge, Innovation, and Improvement.
