Peggy Tudor, EdD, MSN, RN, CNE
Biographical Sketch


Dr. Peggy Tudor is Chair of the Department of Associate Degree Nursing at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY. She has 29 years’ experience teaching in associate degree nursing and has taught both didactic and clinical courses in maternal-newborn, pediatrics, and nursing leadership. Currently, she is also teaching a child healthcare course for education majors offered through the Department of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing at EKU. Additionally, Dr. Tudor has extensive clinical and nursing administrative experience in acute and tertiary care settings, primarily focusing on perinatal and pediatric nursing.

Dr. Tudor received a bachelor of science in nursing, and a master of science in nursing with a clinical emphasis in parent-child nursing and a functional track in nursing administration from the University of Kentucky. Her doctorate is from the College of Education at the University of Kentucky with an emphasis in health promotion, and her dissertation title was Smoking behaviors of rural adolescent and older women during pregnancy.

A leader in program assessment and strategic planning at EKU, Dr. Tudor has also served as a consultant for a number of associate degree nursing programs in these areas. She is a popular speaker on the state and national level regarding program assessment and nursing education. She is a member and past-President of the Kentucky Council of Associate Degree Nursing, a member of the National Organization of Associate Degree Nursing, and currently serves as a Board Member for the KY Nurses Association and President of KNA, District 9. Dr. Tudor has served as a NLNAC program evaluator for associate degree nursing for 20 years and as a member of the associate degree Evaluation Review Panel since 2005.

Dr. Tudor is a member of several community and professional boards including the Bluegrass Regional Mental Health-Mental Retardation Board, Inc. and the Kentucky Nursing Capacity Consortium, and she has held several positions within the University of Kentucky National Alumni Association, including past-President of the College of Nursing Association. She was inducted into the Theta Nu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and is a recipient of several professional awards.

Dr. Tudor is married to her husband, Ron, and they have three children and two granddaughters. She enjoys singing in a chancel choir, ballroom dancing, and traveling, and she is an avid college sports fan.
