AUTUMN GREETINGS FROM DR. SHARON TANNER, NLNAC EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
- The leaves are turning, the air is cooler, and the shops are already in preparation for the upcoming holidays…signs of fall are all around us in New York. October typically means that your fall academic terms are well underway; I hope that your students are enjoying success with their classes. One of my favorite times of the year was the welcoming of incoming students; it was such a pleasure to see the excitement on their faces and hear their many questions as they settled into the routine of classes, labs, and clinical experiences. I have been quite fortunate to work in several different program types during my tenure in nursing education, and quite honestly, it would be difficult for me to say which group was the most rewarding - the graduate students beginning advanced practice or the entry-level students discovering nursing for the first time. At the NLNAC, the Fall means site visits to programs seeking accreditation, and the cycle is well underway with 77 programs hosting site visit teams this period with some exciting news – there are 17 programs seeking initial accreditation this cycle and a possible 20 programs moving forward in the Spring 2009 Cycle! Have a great fall and holiday season! NLN Summit

NLNAC in DisneySURPRISE VISITORS AT THE FALL SELF-STUDY FORUM -
The Fall Self-Study Forum held at the Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando this October was well attended with over 200 attendees and a surprise visit by Mickey and Minnie. The Forums continue to be the best SSForumresource for programs planning for candidacy and initial accreditation as well as nursing administrators and faculty from all program types to learn about the accreditation process. Registrations are now being accepted online at www.nlnac.org for the upcoming Spring 2009 Self-Study Forums in Dallas and New Orleans. We hope to see you there!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEW PROGRAM EVALUATORS AND TEAM CHAIRS -
The Program Evaluator Forum this October in Houston, Texas successfully oriented 26 new site visit team chairs and 44 educators and clinicians to their new roles as NLNAC site visitors. We are continuing to expand our base of program evaluators for practical nursing programs and clinicians. We invite you to be a part of this most rewarding experience.
